Jews and Christians believe and trust in Sacred Scripture as the holy and authoritative Word of God.

"After Moses had written the words of this law in a volume, and finished it; he commanded the Levites, who carried the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, saying: 'Take this book and put it in the side of the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a testimony against thee. For I know thy obstinacy and thy most stiff neck. While I am yet living, and going in with you, you have always been rebellious against the Lord: how much more when I shall be dead?'" Abundant verses in Sacred Scripture teach us that God values life and He alone has dominion over it. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all living things. The human person is His highest creation on earth, because he alone is made in the very image and likeness of God. Man alone is created by God for his own sake. Man alone is invited by God into an eternal, loving relationship with his Creator.

"God created man in His image, in the divine image He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them, saying: 'Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over…all the living things…on the earth." Genesis 1:27-28

"Thy hands have made me, and fashioned me wholly…Thou hast made me as the clay, and thou will bring me into dust again." Job 10:8-9

"In Him were all things created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible…all things were created by Him and in Him." Colossians 1:16

The Bible has more than 170 references to children, indicating in every instance that they are a blessing from God. Each child is created as an irreplaceable and unrepeatable individual who is destined for the happiness of eternal life with his Creator. Scripture also includes many references to the child still in the womb and to God's love for him. The Bible teaches that the mother's womb is meant by God to be a safe place for the child. The womb is the sanctuary wherein God creates and ensouls His beloved children.

"I [the Lord] have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you may have life." Deuteronomy 30:19

"Before man are life and death, whichever he chooses shall be given him." Ecclesiasticus 15:17

Christianity embraces Jesus of Nazareth as the longed-for Messiah, promised to God's Chosen People. Christians believe that God extended the highest honor possible to motherhood and our human condition, when He Himself entered history in the way common to all humanity, through the womb of a mother. Christians accept Mary, the mother of Jesus, as the mother of the Son of God. All mothers are elevated by their selfless cooperation with God in accepting to bring forth new life.

"And Mary said: 'Behold [I am] the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to Thy word.' And the angel departed from her." Luke 1:38

We in the United States of America are without excuse. When we kill and dismember the child in the womb, we commit grave evil. When Americans tolerate deeds that violate the safety of the womb, as a nation, we harden our hearts and darken our souls. We persist in this gross disobedience to the clearly indicated will of God at our peril.

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil, who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness." Isaiah 5:20

"For the wrongdoer will receive recompense for the wrong he committed, for God is no respecter of persons." Colossians 3:25

"I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of Mine, you did for Me." Matthew 26:40

God calls His people everywhere to proclaim what is true, to do good, and to honor Him in all their ways. In God's eyes, it is never "too late." God never gives up on anyone or on any nation. Our very weaknesses and failures endear us even more to God, because they manifest how much we need His forgiveness. No one loves us as God loves us: with a merciful love. He loves us not in spite of our sins, but because of our sins. God knows the depth of our pain when we fall into sin and fail to honor Him, abusing our free will, which is His greatest gift to us. In His kindness, God continually invites each of us to repentance and conversion. Each sin confessed leads us closer to Him, who raises us up even higher after we have repented than before we fell. To a sincere penitent, God's forgiveness is always graciously granted. Thus, repentance leads one to a deeper relationship with the Creator, brought about by greater gratitude to and love for Him.

"Though I [the Lord] say to the wicked man that he shall surely die, if he turns away from his sin and does what is right and just…living by the statutes that bring life, and doing no wrong, he shall surely live, he shall not die. None of the sins he committed shall be held against him; he has done what is right and just, he shall surely live." Ezekiel 33:14-16

"Happy the man whose offense is forgiven, whose sin is remitted…I have acknowledged my sins; my guilt I did not hide. I said, 'I will confess my offense to the Lord.' And You, Lord, have forgiven the guilt of my sin. So let every good man pray to You in the time of need." Psalm 32: 1-7

Persons of faith are not to be overwhelmed, discouraged, or deterred in their resolve to overcome evil with the help of God. God will provide the means to rectify the evil of baby body-parts trafficking in our beloved nation and restore us to righteousness in His sight. All people of goodwill are invited to take up the powerful weapons of the spirit, those of prayer and fasting, which have been the means of victory throughout history for holy men and women, and have never failed to restore justice to repentant nations.

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21

"The eyes of the Lord are upon the just; and His ears unto their prayers. The just cried, and the Lord heard them; and delivered them out of all their troubles." Psalms 22:16, 18
